Information Technology
The School's well-equipped Information Technology (IT) Centre houses an IBM-compatible
PC network running Microsoft Windows software. Two options are offered. The IT Option
covers a wide range of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets,
databases, desktop publishing, multimedia, graphics, programming, control technology
and the Internet, and no previous computer experience is required. A separate, specialist
Control Technology Option looks in more detail at the use of computers in controlling
mechanical devices such as robots. This option is aimed at students with good programming
and technical skills and places will be limited.
Literature with English Skills
This course is aimed at improving English skills through
a study of Literature. Students are encouraged to explore and develop their skills in literacy criticism
through close analysis of a range of texts. Students will have the opportunity to
study poetry, prose extracts, short stories and selected scenes from plays. We endeavour
to strike a balance between 19th and 20th century writers. There is also the opportunity
to study literature from different cultures and traditions. This course is not suitable for students who do not have a strong command of the English language.
French
This course is offered at advanced, intermediate and elementary levels where emphasis
will be on French conversation. The format and organisation of the classes will
be as in English. French language magazines and newspapers will be used as a basis
for topical discussion.
